Fixing Plastic Anchors That Pull Out of Wall

Plastic anchor walls are hard to setup once they’re unstable. Read more to find out how to fix anchors that pull out of the wall.

We often use plastic anchors in the wall to stick some decorative item or lightening item. Things get easy when we first drill a small hole in the wall to attatch the anchor. As time goes on anchor starts to pull out of wall. Why ? There are many reason why plastic anchors are going to get pulled out of the wall.

Some of the reasons why the plastic anchor pulls out of wall.

Heavy Decorative Item – If the item that is going to be attatched with the plastic anchor is too heavy then anchor slowly starts to show the sign that it can’t handle the burden. It slowly gets out of the wall making the drywall and plaster move along with it.

Wrong Screw Size – This happens when you use choose the wrong screw size. You won’t notice the difference immediately but when anchor starts to pull out due it’ll be noticeable as the screws will make anchor fall down.

Unstable Wall Material - This is rare but is noticed in some cases that the used material is not stable. Sometimes the quality of the material also makes it unstable to keep any screw or item hanging. If the material is not stable enough to hold the anchor wall it is going to get pulled out.

Big Hole size – Drilling bigger holes can create problems for the anchor as it makes even right screw and perfect wall material unstable. Big hole size leaves nothing for screw to hold. This is the reason you should carefully drill holes of right size. Plastic anchors usually have a lot of issues as per my observation with big screw holes.

In case of wooden furnite instead of wall, you’ll find that anchors do have nails that may age due to wax. So while applying wax on wooden furniture, take care that these anchors are not losing the grip.

Things to Remember while Drilling for Plastic Anchor

  • Never put heavy decorative item on plastic anchor.
  • Avoid wrong size screw.
  • Drill properly if the material is less stable.
  • Try to use butterfly anchor if possible.
