Five Ways to Beat the Heat This Summer

Five useful ways that you can use to beat the heat this summer.

Please Note: I live in Australia so it is now summertime here.

Air-Conditioner

Have you ever had the feeling that you are walking into a sauna when you walk into your house? What you need is an air-conditioner or lots of fans. Air-conditioners came in all shapes and sizes, from ones that just go on your wall to ones that run through vents and cool your whole house.

Now days most air-conditioners came with dual functions, a heater and a cooler. So now you don’t have to worry about copping up wood for the winter fires. They also cool your house quickly so you don’t need to suffer in the heat for long.

Fans can be a real pain so I suggest you buy an air-conditioner rather than lots of fans. For starters they don’t cool your house they just make the hot air rise. They take up power point slots and they are just a real nuisance to have around. I remember one summer when I first moved into a new house with no air-conditioning I almost baked to death using fans to cool my room.

Pool

Pools are great for beating the heat in the summer. They are also great for entertaining as they can have garden lights around them, have floating candles in the water and many other things. If you have kids pools might also serve as a great way to get the kids to have fun and exercise.

Pools just don’t have to be in your garden permanently. You can now get big fold away pools that you can pack away in the winter months. These pools provide the most of your garden, if you’re having a few friends over and need the space just empty it and put it away, want to swim in it put it up and refill it. It’s as easy as that.

Or if you don’t want to have a pool, find a local swimming pool near you to go to.

Insulation

Insulation is something that you put in your roof or walls if you are building your house to keep up the air you don’t want. This means in the summer the cool air stays in and the hot air goes out and in the winter the hot air stays in and the cool air goes out. Insulation doesn’t have a switch to turn it on or off it just works.

Cold Drinks

Ah yes, who doesn’t like a nice cold drink on a hot day. Try to make your own milkshake or smoothie in the summer and don’t drink things that are bad for you as you will find over the summer you will be putting on body weight in you don’t exercise.

Try This Recipe for a nice banana milkshake

1 Banana per person

1 scoop of vanilla ice-cream per person

1 spoon of vanilla yogurt per person

1 Cup of ice per person

1 Cup of milk per person

Put this all in a blender and turn the blender on.

Keep the blender on until it is all smooth.

Pour it into a glass and enjoy!

The Beach

Ok if you don’t live near a beach you don’t have to read this part if you don’t want to.

The beach is a nice social place with water and sand. Some people find it more interesting to surf, body board or body surf down at a beach with big enough waves. It doesn’t really matter if you are not the wave catching type all you have to do if swim beyond the wave break and just lie there in the cool water. Just make sure you stay between the flags and watch out for rips.

If you want to surf or body board just locate a surf shop near you that has the one you want. If you are a beginner surfer get a foam board as they are easier to stand up on.
