Easy Ways to Decorate for Autumn

Table linens can be changed to the colors of the season, with a runner on top of the tablecloth and napkins set out. You can set your cornucopia as your centerpiece. A set table always looks homey and if you have dishes in the colors of the season, you can keep them set out and ready to go at mealtimes. If you don’t have seasonal dishes, you can get them at secondhand stores or you can purchase a set of basic white dishes and paint them with paint made especially for this purpose. You can even use stencils to paint leaves, pumpkins, and other seasonal treasures on them.

Hay bales can be purchased at almost any farm supply store or even the local produce stands at the farms. Putting a couple of these in your home, maybe in place of some of your decorative stands, will be a great addition to your home in the fall season. You can keep them strung up so that they don’t make a mess, and you can set pumpkins or other fall decor on top of them. They even make great places to sit!

Window treatments can be changed to the fall colors. If you don’t have these, you can intertwine branches to place atop or around the windows. On the branches, you can use hot glue to attach dried leaves, fall flowers, pine cones, or any other natural items that you find will look nice and fall festive.

If you have a tree in your yard with leaves that have turned to their fall colors, you can dry them between sheets of waxed paper, with a heavy object (such as a book) placed atop to flatten them out as they dry. When they are dry and flattened, take them out and glue them with a spray adhesive to a nice piece of thick paper. Place matting around it and frame it. You have now created your own wall art that is gorgeous for autumn.

Fall is a wonderful season for bringing warmth and nature into your home. The colors are vibrant and lovely. Natural decor adds a sense of home that is rarely found with other styles of decor. It is simple to bring the autumn indoors, using some of the above suggestions and maybe even adding some of your own fall decorating ideas, as well.
