Christmas Parties
I have a Grinch approach to the Christmas holidays. But I have a good reason.
Every year I tend to cut out something to do with Christmas. One year my husband and I were invited to a party in Aurora. I had just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Aurora was an hour or two hour away. I was very nervous. My husband doesn’t know but later on in the new year I called his friend to ask him to not invite us again. It wasn’t the atmosphere. Well we didn’t know anyone.
There was a friend of mine from church. She invited us to a Christmas party. We intended to go but the weather was so bad. I never saw my friend again.
As I mentioned I suffer from diabetes. If I go to a party, I should avoid eating a lot of food; especially sweets. It is hard when the cookies and squares are there in sight.
When I grew up, our family had a lot of decorations – stockings and a Christmas tree. These days, my husband and I don’t bother with those things.
I believe in everything in moderation. I go to a few parties but try to keep indulgence to a low level. No one seems to notice.
