A Livable Laundry Room

     My laundry room used to be a dumping ground for everything. Dirty clothes and clean clothes often intermingled for so long that I would waste precious time, energy and resources re-washing, re-drying and re-folding everything that got a musty, dirty clothes odor. I finally had enough. Now the laundry room houses four items and those four items only: my washer, dryer, cat box and trash can.

     No longer are there hampers and baskets that can be used as catchalls. All dirty laundry and all clean laundry has it’s rightful spot. This article isn’t about doing laundry, it’s about cleaning your laundry room but I know how difficult it can be to clean a room that you can’t find under a mountain of cotton so I thought I’d share my story.

    Every Monday, my laundry room gets its cleaning visit which includes doing the following weekly chores:

*Changing the cat litter

*Wiping down the washer and dryer

*Emptying the trash

*Dusting

*Monthly chores of choice

Daily, my laundry room gets the cat box scooped and a load of laundry washed and dried in it and that’s it. Nothing more. I don’t spend hours in there searching for socks and missing pants. I hope that if you can relate to the first part of this article that you know there’s hope. I know how it feels to have the never-ending feeling of laundry and no help.
