Some of the designs for rugs on this website are so innovative they make me wish I had thought of them. The ideas are original and quirky but at the same time they make sense. My favourite is the one in the top right of this picture, it looks as though it is made from bare rocks seem as though they would never be comfortable to lie on, but the small mounds are just pretending to be rocks, each is really a tiny cushion attached to several other cushions which are then combined to make a soft, cosy rug.

Painted items in the home that would normally be static and unchanging can come to life once heat has been applied. For example, imagine wallpaper that changes colour when you turn the radiator on, or a picture that changes colour when you touch it. The applications for this paint are limited only by your imagination.

I love this breadbox for its attractive design. It is shaped like an armadillo and the different sections retract to reveal the bread underneath. This is great for those people who love designer kitchens and can afford the rather hefty $90 price tag.

This washbasin is so beautiful I said “wow” when I first saw it. It was designed by the Italian designer Luigi Boni and manufactured by a company called Italbrass. Although it looks beautiful as an aquarium in can also be used as a space to contain anything you wish. This aquarium can be purchased online and comes with a price tag of $4,900.

9.  Light Emitting Wallpaper

This wallpaper designed by Dutch designer Jonas Samson is one of the most innovative interior design products I’ve seen in a long time. The wallpaper has light emitting diodes embedded into it and once turned on it can be used as a 2 dimensional light source in any room. It uses less energy than conventional lighting and it is relatively cheap to buy.

10. Colour Changing Bath/Spa Light

This simple and inexpensive battery powered light can make bath time fun for reluctant kids or create a relaxing spa like experience for adults. These lights come with suction pads that allow you to stick them to the bottom or the sides of the bath or they can float free in the water.
