A few ideas of how to improve the look of your bathroom with very little expense.
When you think of it your bathroom is the second most used room in your home. It gets lots of use and wear and tear especially from the amount of water that is used within its walls. You want your bathroom to look its best especially if you have a lot of company and it is one of the rooms in your home that will be used by family and friends. If your bathroom is looking dated then it’s time to get to work on renovations.
Now when we think renovations we usually see dollar signs float before our eyes but this is not necessarily the case. You can make small changes that make a big difference. If you can do the renovations yourself you are far ahead of the game especially if you’re on a tight budget. Here are some helpful tips to help achieve your goal without breaking the bank.

Think Accessories
Before you start your renovations you should give some consideration to the accessories that you want to use. Maybe you would like a new mat for the floor or perhaps new cabinets and storage areas. Either one of these items can be purchased for a decent price and can change the whole outlook of your bathroom. You will find that accessories will be the cheapest part of your renovations. I love the sea so incorporated some things from that.

Painting
This is one way to drastically change the look and feel of your bathroom for the better. By changing the color it can change your whole outlook on this room. Once you have changed your color by painting, look around and see what accessories that can be changed to make the color pop through your bathroom. Maybe you can change your tiles to match your new color; the toilet seat is another option which is cheap and very easy to change. Depending on the size of your bathroom will dictate how much paint you will need. I painted mine with a quart of yellow and one quart of white for the trim and ceiling. Needless to say I still have white left over.

Towels and bathmats
These are the easiest of all to change. Maybe you can opt for changing the bathroom fixtures such as the towel rack and toilet paper holder. New ones will make your towels and accessories stand out. Hang a new shower curtain to match. Your bathroom will take the least amount of effort to change than any other room in your home. I found some beautiful yellow and blue towels in a dollar store for $3.00 each. I really don’t know how long they would last with every day wear and tear but I use them as accessories only, so they should last quite a while.

Bathroom curtains
I bought navy blue living room curtain panels that measured 84 inches in length and 54 inches wide which gave me lots of material to make a valance and trim. These were on sale for six dollars each and I made outside shower curtains out of them. It took me approximately half an hour to accomplish this. The whole thing cost me about $14.00 and the navy blue looked very nice with my bright yellow towels, face cloths and mats. A navy blue shower mat was added to the side of the tub and a yellow water resistant curtain hangs inside the tub. I then added a few sea shells in a dish and placed it on top of the toilet lid, a few dolphins’ statues which were on sale at two for $5.00 and topped it off with pictures of dolphins on the walls. The change in the bathroom was unbelievable and I had only painted and changed a few things. Below is the style I used for the outside curtains.

Bathroom renovations don’t have to be complicated all you have to do is change the color and the accessories to make a change that everyone will notice. If you’re on a budget there are dozens of ways to improve your bathroom with very little cost. So go ahead and look around and come up with some ideas that will change your bathroom into the modern room that you want.

Very inspiring, I hate the way people have to change their bathroom and tear out perfectly good fittings and replace them with new ones. What happens to all those old toilets, baths etc???
