- Remove discarded tin cans and old bottles in your yard and cover areas which will become breeding grounds of flies and mosquitoes when they become filled with stagnant water.

- See that the door mats in entrances are in good condition, and get the family unto the habit of wiping their shoes before entering the house, particularly after a rain. Slush and mud cause accidents as they make floors slippery.
- Varnish wooden doors or apply waterproofing sealers on doors and window sills on entrances to protect them against the rain.
- Even sealed and waxed floors outdoors need extra attention in rainy weather. Have them mopped dry right after a downpour. Prolonged soaking will dull their shiny finish.

These are some really good prompts to make sure our house is rain proof and I’m sure it will pay off now that the bad weather is just round the corner! Agree with the waterproof sealers for doors and windows, they work wonders!
