  • Prune greenery that grow too close to the house for safety reasons, as well as to minimize the possibility of termites and other insects using them as entry into the house

  • See that the door mats in entrances are in good condition, and get the family unto the habit of wiping their shoes before entering the house, particularly after a rain.  Slush and mud cause accidents as they make floors slippery.

  • Varnish wooden doors or apply waterproofing sealers on doors and window sills on entrances to protect them against the rain.

  • Even sealed and waxed floors outdoors need extra attention in rainy weather.  Have them mopped dry right after a downpour.  Prolonged soaking will dull their shiny finish.
