Tired of your old dull rooms? House need fixing up? Don’t fret! You can remodel and redecorate using very little cash and a lot of creativity. You’ll have an entirely different and better home just by following these fun and simple ideas.
The recession has hit everything – including your home. Yet you can still brighten it up with easy and inexpensive remodeling and redecorating ideas. Try some of these to brighten up your house even though you’re strapped for cash.
1) More for your buck. Try dollar stores. They have a wide array of household items form plates to shower curtains. You can redo you bathroom with some new hand towels and fancy soaps along with a decent shower curtain all for under five dollars. Also dollar stores have the best collection of plates, mugs and wineglasses too along with placemats, good tableware and fancy serving ware such as gravy boats, butter dishes, creamers and sugar pots. Remember that the bigger the dollar store the bigger the selection.
2) Sample platter, Buy pints of paint samples for five bucks as opposed to gallons at twenty.. You can freshen up any room with handmade stencils and different colors. Do a cluster of stars or animals in a kids’ room or do a fancy floral vine in the guest area. Another cool way to update a room is to paint accent stripes around your doorways or window frames. This gives the feeling of opening up a small doorway or even window.
3)New uses for old things. If you have stuff just lying around, give them a new spin in their reuse. Turn old ribbon into curtain ties or an unused clear vase into a candy dish. Semicircle kitchen rugs can be sewn together to form a hearth rug for the family room or den. Every house has a million unused or junky things just sitting there, collecting dust. Be creative and use them in your redecorating.
4)DIY – seriously. There are some small remodeling jobs you can do yourself. Roof patching is easy if you know what you’re doing (and even if you don’t – there are plenty of how to sites and video you can watch). Finishing your kitchen cabinets can be simple too if you just want to do a shellac or restaining Some bathroom remodeling is pretty ABC too. Grouting is a no brainer job as is installing a new medicine cabinet or shelving.
5) Move it! Rearranging your furniture can add a whole new depth and perception to a room. Angle chairs so they‘re facing each other for a more cozier look. Even switching lamps to different tables can liven up your dull décor. This is not only creative but also helpful. Moving your sofa and chairs away from the sun can lengthen their lives A coffee table that’s in constant use will not be used so much if it’s push to the side while furniture will be moved out of direct sunlight won’t fade as fast.
6) Clutter bug! Sometimes getting rid of extra junk like magazines and junk mail that’s been lying around can make all the different. Don’t use your coffee table as a receptacle for your mail or your kitchen table as a place for all your half eaten snack bags. Clean out what’s half eaten or old news. Get rid of your newspapers on a daily basis. Don’t use the couch as a storage place for your jackets and bags when you come home. Treat your rooms with respect.
7) Nothing like a new coat. Take old furniture , and give it a new hue or shade. If you have a plain wood armoire, then liven it up with a pop of color. Or you could go classical and paint everything an antique white and them stencil in flower and vines. Or repaint your son’s outgrown fire engine red toy chest for your princess using pinks and lavenders. Old furniture can be redone in a variety of ways for several new uses.
You don’t have to break your already empty bank to redecorate and remodel. There are several ways to freshen up your house using very little cash. You just need to be resourceful and creative, that’s it.

Hi ,
Thanks for writing such an interesting article. It’s really good to know about the real estate and home decoration and renovation in detail. Home remodeling is definitely a hot topic these days. While the housing market may be experiencing a temporary downturn, Chicago remodeling projects continue to hold steady simply because many Chicago home owners have decided to stay put in their current homes, opting to upgrade rather than move.
The average home is about 33 years old and with the nation’s aging housing stock, Chicago remodeling projects such as replacing windows and roofs are an ongoing necessity. But home age aside, people are adding on, upgrading and remodeling their homes in greater numbers than ever before. Every year, over 25 million homeowners in the U.S. make some kind of improvement to their homes and Chicago remodeling projects are no exception. Large remodeling projects from complete kitchen remodeling to the addition of several rooms, make up a major part of the home improvement dollar invested by homeowners.
Thanks,
