I Am a Working Mom!!!
People generally have the perception that stay-at-home moms are simply-sitting-at-home moms. I am a housewife, but don’t you dare to say I’m not working!!
“U working?”
“Yes”, I reply.
“where are you working?”,the questioner asks with respect.
“At home”
“So you have a work from home job! That’s wonderful! What do you do? Data entry?catering?Online teaching?”
“I clean,I scrub,I cook”
Sneer from the other side…. “We call it housewives!!!”
Hold on….So you think housewives don’t work??!!
Get up at 6:00 in the morning, prepare breakfast, in the middle of preparing breakfast baby is hungry, go feed him, change his diapers..And what are you preparing for breakfast?? No quick fixes,obviously..You are a stay-at-home mom….So brace yourself and prepare a sumptuous feast!! Pack your spouse’s lunch and wave him a bye. Time to take a few relaxed breaths…
I am working! I need a coffee-break similar to the ones they have in offices! So I brew a cup of coffee and start taking my first sip..
Baby cries. He’s awake!
Go change his diapers, feed him once again, bathe him, dress him ,play with him and now he seems to be in a good mood, atmosphere now conducive for drinking coffee.
Coffee is no longer steaming…The hot coffee has beautifully emerged as a cold coffee!! No gossips, no adult talk!
Time for lunch. Prepare rice, curries, fries, desserts…Oops! no curd at home? Salt is over? Prepare a list of what you need to buy..Dress up, take your baby, run to the supermarket…Buy whatever you want and walk back home…holding the groceries in one hand and your chubby little one in the other…Figure out which one is heavier!!
Dishes to wash, clothes to wash and all other washable things to wash!! Wash them and dry them..And mind you! No delegating your work…Afterall, you are a simply-sit-at-home-mom.
Now clean the house and glorify it by dusting all the show-pieces,changing the flowers in the vase and what not! You get to take a break every now and then while doing the household chores..your baby might miss your company, she might feel hungry, your neighbour might want you to do some favour for her….Breaks are busy breaks that won’t leave you asking for more…
You are always selected to host parties and all the festivals are celebrated in your house..Afterall, jobless moms need something to do!!
You are available 24 * 7 at home…So guests pour in five days a week..
So bake a cake, make their favorite dishes , entertain them…
And when they go,it is time to make dinner..Cook your supper and its time for your husband to come..Give him something to drink, homemade apple juice or grape juice (Don’t even think of buying ready to serve beverages!) Eat your dinner and again the usual chores of washing dishes. Have bath. Rock your baby to sleep..And lie down in the bed..Time 1:30 a.m. Your body gets four and a half hours of sleep to fuel your body for the next day….
Just because I do services for free, with all my heart and with a smile on my face because I like to do what I am doing, does’nt mean I’m not working, you understand?
You better!!!

Very well said. This is one job where we work without any strict time schedule yet no revenue…people think housewives don’t have any job and watch TV throughout the day.

Hahaha! I like your style. It’s true moms are working too and they don’t have any day off, no holidays, no 13th month pay, no overtime pay. That is a very tough job. Two thumbs up!!
