You Know Your Garden is a Jungle When….
You Know Your Garden is a Jungle when….. you know…. the weeds and everything else.
Yes, you know your garden is a jungle when…..
You see everything getting really large and out of control. When you know you haven’t been out there weeding all summer and you go out and find that everything is tall and there are weeds everywhere.
Years ago, I planted tons of stuff and then I just got to the point when I got tired of planting everything and decided to be done. Yet, every summer, Fall or Spring I find myself going out at some point to tame everything.
You do have to eventually do something about it.
Earlier a few weeks ago, I found myself going out with the clippers and trimmed my magnolia tree that was creeping into the sidewalk so I found myself trimming branches so people could walk by during the day.
But what I really need to do is go to town and trim everywhere. Lots of my flowering trees and bushes are just getting too tall for my tastes, so it won’t hurt if I go in and do some serious chopping.
Part of the kids back yard has s wegiela or wisteria tree that I planted years ago. It gets really tall and just spreads like a jungle and canopy and it never flowers because we’re too far north. So I think I just have to chop it way back and it might end up growing better. Right now it’s like walking through a maze to get through that and my now very tall Rose of Sharon bushes.
And in another section things have overgrown and suddenly I’m not seeing as much mint as I used to in the garden. And I do like to harvest the mint. The tea is good and I like to use it when making soaps.
Which I’m done making soaps for a while as I made quite a bunch in the Fall. But I’m sure my sugar scrubs and bath salts will go quicker.
Don’t be afraid to trim back the garden. But I really did get tired of majorly playing in my garden beds. I seriously planted just about anything you can think of and figured I had done enough. But now what my job needs to be is to clean it up and make it look better.
And we have a neighborhood rabbit that also loves the kids yard. We think he lives nearby.
