In spite of wandering to the vegetable garden,harvesting and consuming the fruits of the labour it is better to have a garden where you yield your own vegetables.Home grown vegetables are much more tastier and cheaper than the one bought from the store.There is a certain satisfaction to serving and eating food that you yourself have grown and harvested.Although it requires quite a large amount of space,it can also be grown in window boxes.

The site location, for having a vegetable garden, is of the utmost importance.Advance planning has to be done as there are factors that can affect the success and manegability of your garden.A spot where the sunlight is available for six to eight hours can be considered the most convenient one.Also the drainage system, the air flow and the soil quality must be given the utmost preference but at the same time they cannot replace the needed sunshine.It is better to have a small garden than a large one neglected and full of weeds.
A raised-bed garden is considered to be the best especially when you have a small place or when the clay soil is in abundance.This helps in increasing the yeild.The palnts can be placed closer together to have better yield.Plant the tall growing palnts towards the back of the garden and the shorter ones in the front so that their sunlight does not get blocked.

Finally when you are ready to begin planting your vegetable garden,make sure you plant at the right time otherwise the plants may be destroyed.If the planting has to be done before the time,then you may plant it inside in a hotbed and then transplant when the whether permits.Make sure your vegetables receive an appropriate amount of water,which may depend upon the type of plant.
Precautions has to be taken for the garden.The Weeds must be controlled as they will take up all the nutrients,light and water necessary for the plant to grow.They often bring disease and insects to the garden.To get rid of weeds we can use mulching or cultivation techniques.There are seeds available in the market which can be used to control the insects and the disease.

If all this sounds like a lot of work,then it is.It is one of the most labour-intensive task in gardening.Once you are done you will be reaping the rewards for years to come
