Trinoma Gardens

Manila is not really a place you would think you’d be able to have a quiet walk on, to think, meditate or reflect on life. Well, unless you live in a condominium with its own compound that feautres nature like a fountain, a pool, you get what I mean. That has changed (a bit) with malls creating garden landscapes and they are such relief after that shopping which of course involves a lot of walking, searchin and crowd dealing. A relief after the grocery list you would have had to complete, and a relief fro when you and a friend need a quiet, relaxing spot to talk. One of my favorites, after Greenbelt, that is the newly structured Trinoma Mall in the North or Timog as Manila calls it. Very convenient as the mall is connected to the MRT line too, just get off the North Station. Below are some pictures I have taken of it.

When you get to the mall, find your way out again – these gardens are located at the third and fourth floors of Trinoma.

As you can see they’ve cut the area into seemingly small islands connected by wooden bridges lined with tall grass.  There are lots of tall bushes, actual trees and plenty of water.

As a result it gives off a cool ambiance, well, during noon and the afternoon of course this little utopia won’t still be able to beat the heat.

In which case you might want to pop into or plant yourself under one of the cafe or restaurants large umbrella’s situated around the garden.  This is where a good frapper (Coffee Jelly, hmmm) comes in.

Smoking is allowed, proper disposal bins are provided, to be fair the gardens were clean, and I like to think that shoppers of this mall have found it within themselves to maintain the garden’s pristine quality.

I still wonder what this place would be like at night.  I am going to try it one of these days when I find a reason to but given what one sees during the day, I think night in this place will be amazing when these lamps are turned on casting a glow on the waters surface, shadows from the trees.

It is not a glof course and the grassy area is cordoned off.  I don’t blame them.  Imagine what this area would look like when trampled on.

Perfect for walks and strolling.  My friend Sara and I had a pretty nice, quiet time walking around talking about women stuff and looking for a store that sells cigarettes.  No such luck.  We either did not find the right store or there really isn’t a store in this mall that sells them.  Smokers, bring your own pack.

My soul felt so quiet and at peace as I stood around these pools, watching the water from the small fountains and hearing them flow around me.  Very, very soothing.
