Plants for a Shady Garden

Here are a few of my favourites, I hope it helps.

I have a shady area in my garden and have tried many plants that have failed miserably.  I must have spent a fortune trying to make my shady area look beautiful.  So last year I looked into plants that really work well in this kind of area. They worked wonders, so I thought I would share the best with you garden lovers out there.

Japanese Anemones – A beautiful white Anemone that has a pretty flower. I chose a white one to brighten up my dark shady area.  They spread very well too, so you can easily divide the clumps and plant elsewhere.

Camellias – These come in a variety of colours. I chose a red one for the depth of colour that is offered.  It is evergreen and likes neutral to acid soil types. They dislike wind, so a sheltered spot is best.

Rhododendrons – These come in many stunning colours and are beautiful, one of my favorites.

Geraniums and wonderful and they spread every year. They have pretty little flowers that are so delicate to look at.  Very easy to grow.

Rose of Sharon – This is an easy plant to grow with lovely yellow flowers.  Rose of Sharon will grow in a sunny or shady spot and is very versatile.

These are the ones I chose for my garden, but there are so many shade loving plants that you can buy  now. If you enquire at you local garden centre they will be able to advice you.
