Patio Garden

Patios have been present in many modern day houses as well old architectures. They generally are part of the garden that is present in the courtyard of a house. A patio and garden combined produce a wonderful natural beauty.
Patios give a beautiful look to the courtyard or an open space in a house. Unlike a balcony which is also an open space, patios are built on the ground. They are not just open space left out in the house. But they are built by special type of stones or slabs which give beauty and softness to the floor. Its often roofless.
Often they are decorated with different color slabs. It can also used as pavement. It acts like a path between the house and the garden. Sometimes gardening is done in the patio itself by giving islands for plants. The gardens add more beauty to the patio. Sometimes patio is used for dining and recreation purposes as well. The patio needs to be built on a firm base which is strong enough to hold the force exerted by the people who walk as well as vehicles.
When a patio is used for driveway then the base must be very strong to hold the weight and speed of the vehicles although the vehicles are generally run at slower speeds. So the base must be formed using stones, layers of sharp sand and even using cement. Otherwise the base will not be strong to hold the weight and the slabs or tiles will crack. This distorts the beauty of the surrounding garden as well.
