Make Good Use Of Your Fallen Leaves
Now that the leaves have started to fall from the trees , you’ll probably be kept busy sweeping and raking them up.
This is time-consuming , so make your efforts reap rewards. Leaves make good garden mulch. As you collect them put them in a bin liner, pierce a few holes in it for drainage and when nearly full, sprinkle with water and tie securely.
Store your bin liners in a shady spot until next Autumn. The leaves will have rotted down to a rich, crumbly mixture that can be used as a mulch around the base of plants.
If you want to use the leaf mulch as a soil conditioner then leave the bags for another year.
Alternatively, add some leaf mulch to your home-made compost bin.
