The stages of a seed germination.

Seed Germination is when a seed begins to grow it goes through several stages but many factors affect the seedling growth such as climate the type of seed light and other things.

There are three phases in seed germination the first stage is Activation, the second stage is Digestion and Trans location and the final third stage is seedling growth.

Stage one: Activation

The first thing that occurs in activation is imbibition of water which is up take of water. Once this has happened it has initiated activation and enzymes. The enzymes function is to break down storage materials that was in the seed and turns them into more simple compounds such as sugar. The seed takes this and turns it to energy to use for growth and development. In the end of this first stage the first sign of germination has begun.

Stage Two: Digestion and Trans location

In this stage the stored materials are broken down to simpler compounds these are then moved to the embryo axis and roots. Then the plumule will grow and develop as cells elongate and divide.

Stage Three: Seedling Growth

The final stage the germinating seed keeps going through metabolic changes which results in a seedling.
