Herb Gardens and Landscaping

Have you ever smelled fresh lemon balm, or chocolate mint? It is very easy to incorporate herbal plants into your landscaping, but will provide you with fresh herbs you can dry and use in your cooking.

Incorporating herbal plants into your landscaping is not only easy, but will provide you with fresh herbs you can dry and use in your cooking. They look great, and when their is a nice breeze will give off great aroma. We have incorporated lemon balm, mint, chocolate mint, sage, Russian sage, and rosemary into our front landscaping.
The Russian sage has great purple flowers, the mints and lemon balms have great deep green leafs that grow fast and will soften corners and fill in bare space very well. Oregano is a great little clumpy plant. Think of all these herbs just growing around your house, you can just pick fresh herbs to use in your cooking. We all know how expensive herbs can cost in the store.
We have gone through a cold winter last year and know that the rosemary was not effected at all, we just planted the mint and oregano this last spring so will see how it holds up, but it should come back next year. The Russian sage will go away over the winter but comes back in the spring. It more than doubled in size from last year. Below are some photos on how we used our herbal plants in the landscaping in the front of our home.
Mixed in with our many fruit trees along the side and back of our home, and of course our veggie garden the only thing we really don’t have right outside our door is a few cows and chickens.
