Growing Watermelon
How to start and grow watermelon.
-First you are going to need a nice spot to put your watermelon in at, maybe a spot on the edge of your existing garden plot or if you have a nice spot in the sun that stays somewhat wet and moist.
-You can either start seedlings in pots indoors or in a green house or choose to put them directly in the soil as soon as it’s broke and cover the seed back up with soil. I would say no more than an inch deep is good. Water your seeds in well after planting making sure all the surrounding soil is very wet.
-After a couple weeks your watermelon seeds should break the soil and you should see sprouts; you will want to water them every morning or evening at this point. The bigger the plant the more water it will need for a drink.
-Your plants should vine out nicely and you can move them around a little bit but not too much or they will wilt; better to let them do their own thing, they should produce flowers after about 2-3 months and set fruit after that.
-You will need to water your plants whenever the soil is dry at this stage so you grow nice size fruit.
-Growing fruits and vegetables can be both rewarding and fun, so have fun…
