Dear Internet: About My Garden
How has my garden been doing since my last we talked? I am glad you asked.
More succulence has been coming up were there used to be grass. Theses leafy plants could help share some of the tole the slug plants are taking on the garden boxs. I have been tending to two 5 by 7 Garden beds at this site. The Garden beds are not alone they are nestled up next to the base of a fig tree and three citrus trees.
The slugs had been taking a heavy tole on my pee and chard starts but they are now bouncing back and seem to be out growing the amount that the slugs can eat them. That or they might have just been migrating threw. I did manage to kill a couple pea plants when I attempted to transplant them away from the potato plants. The pants needed to be moved to make room for the mound of soil I have been shoveling on top of the potato plants in order to create hilly mound towers full of potatos.
My sister asked me once with concern in her voice ” Keith, What should I do about all my plants getting eaten by bugs. At the time I didn’t have a good answer for her, I told her the wholes in the leaves are the better leaves to eat because the plant has to pump all kinds of healing things into it and consequently the leaves with the wholes help fight Cancer better. I suggested she find some bushes or annuals that attract more beneficial insects. However more recently I have found out about a couple other techniques. First you could line the top of your garden bed with copper, or 2 plant more other succulent

plants around so the bugs will have other choices to eat besides what is in your bed.
