The change in the shade of leaves is the consequence of biochemical activities that obtain part in the plant tissues as the period changes from summer to winter. Plant leaves enclose the key pigment chlorophyll that gives them their green color.

However, leaves have several other pigments in attendance most of the time. There are orange to yellow colored carotenoid colors. In most of the plants, there is concerning three times similar chlorophyll as a carotenoid. Again anthocyanin is accountable for the red, purple and pink colors in leaves that are so beautiful.

Chlorophyll is not a very constant compound; bright sunlight reasons it to degenerate. This is identified as solarization. To keep the amount of chlorophyll in their leaves, plants continuously synthesize it. The mixture of chlorophyll in plants requires both warm temperature and sunlight. Therefore, in summer chlorophyll is constantly broken down and redevelops in the leaves of trees.
