An article detailing the outlandish names people and especially celebrities are naming their children.
Doesn’t it seem like baby names are getting more and more ludicrous these days? And how are these kids going to cope with their names as adults? My one friend recently had a child and I asked her what name she had chosen and she had to repeat it to me four times and finally spell it to me, granted we were in a loud place at the time but is this what he has to look forward to in life? Spelling and sounding out his name to everyone he meets.
And why do celebrities pick the most unusual names for their children they already have enough spotlight without being called Apple, Ocean or Camera. I think musician Frank Zappa may take the cake for weirdest baby names with his son’s name Dweezil , son Ahmet Emuukha Rodan, daughter Moon Unit and daughter Diva Muffin. Or actress Shannyn Sossamon, named her child Audio Science seriously what do you expect your child to be when they grow up? I think in about 20 years there is going to be a huge line-up for name changing applications.
And on the other end of the scale you have the overly common name such as Michael or Steven or the recently popularized Emma. My husband has 3 different friends named Mike and he cannot talk about them without saying their last name, I also know three Emma’s all under the age of 5.
Why can’t we just choose names that are not ridiculous or overtly common and if you want to name your child after your great aunt Agnes or Gretel that’s what middle names are for, hiding ridiculous names and hoping no one comes across a copy of their birth certificate.
