Many parents who made a mistake in positioning their baby during sleep, and improper sleeping position very dangerous for babies safety. To avoid further mistakes, here are some tips that you can do to prevent accidents when your baby is asleep.
Sleep on The Belly or Side not Recommmended!
Put your baby in a supine position during sleep, do not ever put your baby in a face down position on his Belly or his Side.
Consider to use a Firm Crib Mattress.
The AAP recommends using a new crib or bassinet that meets the safety standards of the Consumer Product Safety Commission and ASTM International, since older cribs may have been recalled or have broken or missing parts, endangering your baby.
Do not Put Many Objects in Baby Beds.
Because the objects that exist could endanger the safety of the baby.
Do not Often Change Your Baby’s Position On Sleep.
AAP states after you put your baby in a supine sleeping position, it does not matter if a few moments after that your baby is moving or changing positions according to what he wants. SIDS will basically decreased in infants aged 4 months upwards.
Immediate Move Your Baby if Asleep in the Sitting Device.
When the baby falls asleep in the seat like a stroller or swing, especially for infants under 4 months old, this is very risky especially can obstruct the airway. Immediate Move your baby to bed more viable (crib mattress).
Breastfeeding Always Be The Best.
Breastfeeding can reduce the risk of SIDS, the AAP states longer breastfeeding would further reduce the risk of SIDS in infants, compared to if not breastfeeding at all.
Sleep Near Your Baby.
Do not sleep in the same bed, by separating your baby at bedtime, will reduce the risk of SIDS.
Using Pacifier.
It turned out that using a pacifier in the baby can reduce the risk of SIDS, some studies suggest that, although not yet completely clear why.
Do not Make Your Baby Overheat.
Usually, because the parents feel that their children deliberately cold then the child will be given some clothes at the same time coupled with a thick blanket. This turned out to be harmful and result in SIDS. Give your baby dress appropriately, if necessary, add one layer of clothing just normal.
Occasionally Train Your Baby On The Belly Position.
If we are concerned with the supine position will make the baby’s head is not normal, it occasionally with your supervision when the baby is awake, train to his belly position, it also will train and assist the growth of motor nerve.
That’s all I know my friends, I hope anyone want to add or give advice. Please write in the comment box.
