Tracing a Silhouette
Fun family activity- Trace each others silhouette.
Have a member of your family sit in a chair. Position a light to cast a shadow of the person on a blank wall. Make sure and get a good profile.
Tape a white paper to the wall where the shadow appears. Make sure to get some of the neck.
Here’s the hardest part: sit very still! Using a pencil, trace the outline of shadow on the white paper.
You might have to reposition the person once-in-a-while. Kindly guide the subjects head back to the shadow you’ve been tracing.
After you are done tracing on the white paper, remove it from the wall.
At this point you can cut out the silhouette and trace it on black paper, cut it out and glue it on white paper or you can fill in the silhouette with black marker or paint.
Now you can frame the silhouettes individually or as a collage or just tape the paper to the wall. HAVE FUN! And don’t forget to get a silhouette of your pets!
