The Freedom of Choice

            As a proud citizen of the United States of America, I am glad we have the freedom of choice, in most state to choice an abortion. The article I am about to write is not for or against abortions, but it is an issue in this country since there are 3 sides to the story. The 1st choice is the freedom to have an abortion, 2ND is the ability to protest that abortions are wrong, and last there are those who just don’t care either way.

            Abortion is destroying a life, not only of the fertilized egg, but in the long run, a woman will look back and wonder what that fertilized egg, looked like; what type of person would he or she had been. From that very moment of conception, that very first day, there are a lot of traits that are already developed, such as its, sex, hair and eye color.

By the time the baby is about 12 weeks old, which is usually the cut off date for most abortions, the baby can hear, feel, and its heart has been beating for the last two months.

The entire birth cycle is absolutely wonderful and amazing; but sometimes it comes at the wrong time in life. Perhaps your still in high school, or your parents don’t like the father of the baby, or the father is unwilling to accept the responsibility that he fathered a child. Perhaps one of the parents was on drugs that night, or perhaps they were both drunk. Whatever the reason, the action this pregnant woman should be thought about carefully and thoroughly. The longer she waits the harder it becomes not only physically but emotionally and medically as well.

As mentioned earlier most doctors or clinic will not perform and abortion after 12 weeks or 3 months, but sometimes the actually timing in not correct and the mother could be closer to 16 weeks or 4 months; which at this time the baby can hear all types of sounds, she or he knows his mothers voice. It is also at this time that the mother usually can feel the moment of the baby, now its real. There is a living human being inside the mothers’ stomach and she can feel it, she knows it is there.

An abortion after 24 weeks or 6 months is wrong and I say that only because I have seen and assisted in situation where a baby is born premature, it is tiny, but nonetheless it is still a baby. With love and care this premature baby will grow up, if only given the chance.

There is of course the woman who conceives at the age of 40 and is told the baby is Down syndrome, they are harder to care for, but they too grow up and bring families joy, if only given the chance.

Many young women don’t realize that there are many organizations out there that can and will assist young moms, from getting prenatal care, a place to live, counseling and advisers who give these women the opportunity to express their feeling; in addition to telling them the different options available to them, they offer employment training, the opportunity to get you High School Diploma or GED. These organizations are out there, you just have to look, abortion is not the answer in most cases; especially since there are so many couples out there that would do anything to have a baby of their own.

Perhaps you can make their dream come true, out of something not planned you can create a family for someone else, and move on with what your were hoping to achieve. You will of course wonder where the child is, and as time go one you will wonder about him or her, but you gave the baby a chance; you gave it life.

If you decide to have an abortion, at first it may not be a big thing, “yeah” I had an abortion, so what?  Wait about 20 or 30 years, you will start to look back and wonder, what would that little human being that was growing inside you, for just a short time, what and who would he be like.

If at day one the sex, hair and eye color is determined, and by 6-7 weeks there is a little heart beat action going on, by the 16 weeks the baby hears, and mommy feels the baby. Yes it is a baby. Stay pregnant and seek alternative answers, not because I am for or against abortion, but because young women at this time don’t really know what to do, and are influenced by their parents, who are mad, disappointed and embarrassed.

Babies are beautiful little people who grow up to bring joy, so what if you have to change your plans, or detour temporarily, in the end whether you keep the baby, or give it up for adoption, you will know that you did a wonderful thing for a couple, or for your son or daughter your raising.
