Soon to be “The World’s Happiest Dad”

It was November of 2011 when my wife Joyie started to feel and do strange things. Little did we know that she is carrying our precious little angel that is starting to bring joy to our lives as early as now.

She was a regular customer of our bathroom very often and never get tired of visiting even in the middle of the night. Her appetite increased so as her intake of anything soluble. It surprised me more to see her eating junk almost every hour that it became a part of her diet. I told her to stop but it seemed it was never heard as she still managed to sneak a plastic or two without me realizing sometimes.

She told me one night that she was always feeling dizzy and easily gets hungry. She joked that she was pregnant but i never took notice. I was preoccupied with other things thinking it was just an ordinary joke we usually throw at each other. We joke around everyday, just so you know.

One morning, as i was having breakfast, she came down from our room and asked me to buy a pregnancy test. My eyes widened and was like ” Are you serious?” She didn’t flinch and never said a word. She just nod with a frown face first, then later with a smile. I hurriedly grabbed my keys and drove to the nearest pharmacy. I have no idea how a pregnancy test works and so was she. In fact, i never saw anything like it up close and personal. When it was handed to me, my hand was kinda shaky and the man on the counter simply managed to giggle a little. Whatever that was, he sure knew i was feeling kind of strange too.

When arrived home, Joyie was already inside the bathroom. She stopped whatever she was doing and went out. She asked for the pregnancy test and read its description written behind. We were like crazy – staring at each other whilst smiling. When she was already composed, she went inside the bathroom. A little later, she went out. Again, my eyes widened in shock as two red lines popped out from nothing. We smiled and hugged each other for the fact that we will be both parents soon.

At the moment, Joyie is almost five months pregnant. Her belly is now protruding and is having difficulty in lying down. She likes coconut juice and soya milk for breakfast. She is also a number one fan of bread with cheez whiz on it. On Sunday, we will visit her doctor for another appointment. Wishing to see the baby’s genitals from her ultrasound.

You can check out the blog i made about the baby at this link Gifts of the Little Hands. Everything is documented starting from the pregnancy test we did. By the way, do you know who I am? I am simply the soon to be happiest dad in the world :)

  1. Congrats to you and Joyie

  2. Thank you Phillies.

  3. Congrats on the news! Hopefully the strange cravings and crazy mood swings don’t get under your skin! I remember when my cousin was pregnant, it was scary! Anyone that can deal with someone like that is a saint! Not to take away from women, I don’t see how they can carry around something for 9 months either. Keep us updated, and once against, congrats! :)

  4. YAY!!! Congrats to you and your wife! I am also pregnant unexpectedly with my and my husbands first child! It is crazy knowing that a little person will depend on us for everything but such a joyous time for the both of you as it is for us I’m sure! We are having a little girl and she will be here in just 88 more days (assuming she arrives on time)! Can’t wait to find out what you are having too! Congratulations again!!! :)

  5. Finally, strange cravings and crazy mood swings are over. It was during the first trimester when everything was all but crazy. Thanks for dropping by, Brian.
