Relationship Advice From Dad
“You will be special to me forever! I love you to no end. I’ll die for you. I’ll kill for you. And any man who says he loves you should be willing to do the same.” ~Daddy
When dad speaks up about men in our lives. It does much more for us than any friend or family member. Even mom’s words are a cheap comparison to the words of a father. His mere voice commands our respect, no matter his stature in life. The few words my dad said as I was growing up stick to my bones like glue.
Disclaimer… I write this fatherly advice full well knowing that all fathers are not fatherly and will not impart this advice to their daughters. Again, this is why I write.
You Are Beautiful in Every Way…
Fathers call their daughters princess and muffin and all other sort of beautiful pet names to remind her of her beauty and sweetness. Daddy says, “You are gorgeous and no man can ever define that for you. You must first believe it in your own mind and heart. So, I will ingrain it into you every day that I can, so help me God!”
You are a Delicate Flower…
“You are honestly the most fragile thing, that I’ve ever laid my eyes on. I don’t care how whether you’re prissy or a tomboy. You are the one I care for. Your man should care for you, too.”
Now, this does not mean that you put your man in pressing situations that would cause him to have to defend you. If you love the man in return, you wouldn’t want to see him in harms way.
This is the reason that Daddy gives his little girl away at the wedding. Her new husband will take over dads old responsibilities. As, I stated earlier, I do know that all homes aren’t so perfect. This is article is written mainly for those from that imperfect household.
You are Strong Enough to Be Weak…
Very often women are raises to be strong. Raised with higher standards than even their brothers. They know how to cook, clean, take care of the babies and work. They learn to take up the slack where the Men are falling short. Soon they learn that they don’t need men. They will survive alright on their own.
This scenario may need to be true in some situations, but this is why Daddy says…
“Choose wisely, my daughter! The man of your dreams can and will take care of you. Take care to watch his actions and not only his clothing or his money. Let his smooth words breeze into one ear and flow out the other. Watch his ACTIONS, so you will be sure that it is okay to be weak.”
Men, don’t have to fall short. We allow them to and sometimes push them to, by merely being the superwomen that society has taught us to be. If you take care to never take up his slack in the beginning, you will not worry to take his slack later on in life. You can depend on him, if you choose wisely.

Good advice. My dad use to tell me,” Girl, you have great legs show them off.” I miss my dad. He passed away in 2001.
