Perfect Lesson of Child’s Care

21 December 2008.. Our children are the valuable wealth or present rewarded to us from God. However, a few things we need to know little bit about of their life and the most important is that our child’s safety at home.

Keep Your Home Safe

Keeping your home safe for your young and inquisitive child is a challenge for every parent. Each room poses different threats to her safety. Quite simply, never leave your child anywhere unsupervised.

Potential Hazardous

The main danger spots are the kitchen and bathroom. The kitchen is where burns happen. Ideally, keep her out of both. If you can do that, be vigilant.

Keep kettles out of the way and pot handles facing inwards. Never leave the iron unattended when it is plugged in, and make sure the wire is out of reach.

When you are cooking, keep your child well out of the way, or perhaps even block her from the kitchen with a safety gate. Keep hot drinks, matches, scissors and knives out of her reach.

Tablecloths could sometime become a list of potential hazardous because the children can easily pull on them and if there are hot things on the table they could end up on the child. Curtain is also one of the potential hazardous items as they can be pulled, curtains railings can fall, and the child can suffocate in the collapsed curtain.

The bathroom is where drowning, burns, poisoning, falls and even electrocution can occur. Medical specialist says that, a toddler can drown in six inches of water. Do not keep water in the bath, in buckets or in sinks. Keep the lid on toilets, and never leave a child unattended in the bath.

Keep the bathrooms floors dry. Many of the children who come to hospital with injuries have sustained those by slipping on wet bathroom floor.

Make sure the temperature of the water is regulated. Hot tap water can scald a child. Do not leave electrical equipment in the bathroom. If electrical appliances fall into the water, they can electrocute your toddler.

Safety in Bedroom

If your child falls asleep on the bed, be careful she doesn’ t fall off. A fall can cause serious head injuries. Do not place children’ s bed near dangling cords such as window blind cords, which can cause chocking. Make sure cords are short and out of reach.

Do not use bunk bed if there is toddler in the house. Children love to climb and a tumble can lead to injury. If you have a ceiling fan, make sure it is well out of reach of the bed.

Do not forget the stairs and balconies are also dangerous for the children. Use stair gates to prevent your child from climbing up or falling down the stairs and make sure the handrails are high enough to keep the children from falling over the side. Keep balconies securely locked.

Important Tips for Home Safe

Here are a few tips to keep your home safe:

Have all the telephone numbers you may need in an emergency easily at hand.

Have a first aid kit in the house and the car.

Check your electrical wiring periodically to make sure it is safe.

Cover electrical sockets so that children can not put dangerous things in them.

We have to unplug all of your electrical appliances if you are not using them.

Make sure all your glass, including shower doors and low windows, is made of safety glass.

Fit your doors with door – closers so children do not get their fingers jammed.

Safety is the Priority Tasks

The safety of our children and family are the most priority tasks that we have to do in our daily life. Several standard precautions that we need to follow in order to keep our entire family lives in a good and safe condition.
