Parenting Teenagers Sucks!

On being a teenage parent.

I coulnd’t wait to be a mom.  It was great, playing with the kids, teaching them new things.

And then it happened.  They grew up and became teenagers.  I really did not realize how hormonal boys would be.  It is hard enough having a hormonal girl but to throw the boy in the mix…It is rough stuff.

I think it is the moodiness and the bad attitude that gets to me the most.  We do our best to raise them right and we all make mistakes.  But for some reason, when we are teenagers, we think mistakes don’t aply to us.

Mine tend to not take responsibility for their mistakes. They say they do… but if they really did, would they be taking their anger out on the parents?

For instance:

I have been asked to stay out of school. Allow them to manage their work load on their own. Don’t ask about homework or grades…Do you know how difficult that is as a parent?

So I did. And now, low and behold, we have 3 C’s…And you would think it is my fault with the way they get so angry and aggressive.  So what do you do?  Do you punish at a progress report so that the report card is better? Do you allow them more time to prove they can do it on their own? Heck no.

I say punish punish punish..

I think I’m going to take one thing away fo each C. The phone, that will be the end of life as we know it.  teh computer, there went the back up plan. And then the I-pod.  What’s left? Nothing really. they should have plenty of time to study.

I could then make them responsible for their grades. They can do weekly grade checks, on their own. For each C that get’s brought up to a B, they will get one thing back.  So I guess the responsibility will really be on them…

Parenting is frustrating.  Kids say it is so hard to be a kid, wait till they grow up and have Teenagers…..

  1. I understand your frustration. You have a rough time of it. All I can say is good luck and remember to always try to make the right choices.

  2. Patience is the main key in rearing up teens.

  3. So, this is what I have to look forward to! LOL! Nicely done.
