Moms and Dads You Don’t Need to Feel Alone any More

Ever feel like its you and your kids? Or more like its just you? The hubby is at work and the kids are on your last nerve? (Or if your a “HouseHubby” the wife is at work)

Your not alone! Many housewives (or househubbys) feel this way and begin to feel depressed. I can tell you your probably not crazy. Sad and lonely yes but depressed no.

What you need is companionship! Someone to talk to that you don’t need to pay. Someone who will listen and to be a friend. Im sure you have tried chat rooms and all you get are the crazy guys wanting to know if you have a web cam!

How about Facebook? Ok that’s great to find people you know and click on random people you don’t (yeah for a bit of info you can get a timeout for that! Facebook will ban you for a few days with a warning)  But odds are this is just not working. Sites like Twitter and MySpace are a one on one site where you are looking for companionship one at a time and there is a lot of rejection.

We don’t have to do it this way any more. Go to a website called Meetup.com. It is not a dating service if that is what you were thinking. Its a place where you can create or join groups in your local community. Its not like most groups all on line but rather is a site to create or join groups that actually get together in person. I am from West Lafayette Indiana and there is this wonderful group on Meetup.com called GLAMS (Greater Lafayette Area Moms)

There is online discussion board and many other activities. We have a calender where almost every day there are activities such as playgroups, moms night out (a mom or 2 will watch your kids so you can get out) movie nights, bake sales, garage sales where GLAMS get first grabs and discount and more! And Yes! there are groups for dads too! I have been a member for 3 years now and its the best. there are hundreds of members for this group and its a small town. Most are free to join and some require a yearly fee (GLAMS is $5 a year and even I a mom of 4 kids can afford $5 a year)

You should check it out. I know you will find what you are looking for and I can tell you right now I have been there and felt a bit crazy. I have come across many articals that make you feel more sad because they make you feel inadiquit by the “every mom must be a Super Mom complex” well we are not! We just try hard and YES that is good enough. You are a GREAT mom or dad! You just need some time to yourself to focus on you again.
