I Support Breastfeeding
… but not for three or more years.
I breastfed all four of my children and agree that is a wonderful thing. Newborns receive great nutritional value, antibodies, and more from breast feeding.
not only do we begin the mirroring of neurotransmitters and create vital brain connections, but we also form the bond between mother and child hormonally. We engage our babies in the senses of touch and love, while proving them with a nutritional meal.
Everything about breastfeeding was wonderful for me. I felt empowered, the idea that I, alone, could provide for my child was a tremendous feeling!
Not only does the baby benefit, but the new mom benefits as well. The uterus contracts back down to its pre-pregnancy size more quickly, postpartum bleeding diminishes more quickly, and…. many moms loose the ‘baby fat’ more quickly.
….but, there comes a time when every ‘animal’ has to wean their young, imagine if a child was walking around with a bottle at 6, that would be asinine or silly, so why would it not be silly to see one at the age of 3 or 6 breastfeeding?
Some things in this world are just asinine…..

I totally agree, the first year yes, but after that it is not necessary
I only lasted a few months with my babies, and they seemed to thrive. ^_^

I take it you saw the news… and I like that word asinine when it relation to breasts

I believe in letting your baby decide when they no longer want to breastfeed – but notice I used the word baby, not child. My daughter chose to give it up at nine and half months and that was that. I think the mothers must push their children to continue – as controversial as that is to say.

All-right, but as long as it’s done in private. Good share!

breast feeding is a very natural thing to do. The difference in opinion is when do we stop breast feeding and start weaning. I agree with Philippa Mingins.
