When we become parents, we start to wonder how we can educate our children and teach them how to protect themselves.
1 — Teach your child how to defend themselves from bully.
There are always some bully people everywhere, even in schools or kindergartens. You teach your child to be nice, but not necessarily to be weak. When your child is bullied, he or she should stand up to defend his or her dignity.
Teach your child, don’t bully others, but also don’t allow others to bully him or her.
2 — Encourage your child to participate in team work.
We should encourage our children to participate in group activities. If your child loves sports, you can encourage him or her to join a football or volleyball team. Team spirit is a very important quality in life nowadays. You should help your child to develop this competence since they are still young.
3 — Stand in your child’s shoes to understand how he or she feels.
Remember what you did and how you were when you were at the same age of your child. Before you shout to your child, wait one minute and try to remember what you exactly did at the same age of your child. If you did the same thing like your child, try to remember what logic you had at that time.
In fact, due to the difference of knowledge coverage and experience between you and your child, it’s normal that your child thinks different from you. When there is some problem, you should be calm and patient to explain to the child why the thing he or she was doing was not right or not safe. Try to find out your child’s logic and use the same logic to explain the things to them.
