HAS THE Society Failed OUR Teenagers 3?

The society contributed to the problem of Teenagers being Pregnant. However, the society is not to be totally blamed for the rate of these Teen pregnancies. Parents have contributed, the society and government also contributed.

HAS THE SOCIETY FAILED OUR TEENAGERS 3?

Many things could be attributed to teenage pregnancy in our present day society. Among them is the fact that most parents are now more conscious of and attached to their career to the detriment of their marriage and family. These have given room to rampant separation and divorce in our society today. Most children who grew up under single parent usually end up as society nuisance and victims of abuse. Unfortunately, most of the Teenage pregnancies are result or sexual abuse or rape. To check the rate of Teenage Pregnancies, parents should begin to live well. That is the starting point. They should create a blissful home through blissful marriage. They should be role model for their children.

Again they should make time to teach their child sex education from tender age. If a girl of 12 years could become pregnant, it means that boys and girls of that age should know about sex. When parents shy away from this, the children will learn from a wrong source and may not apply that knowledge well. Also parent should not be too rigid and legalistic about their children keeping relationships when they are coming up to adolescent stage. Rather, they should monitor their children when they start having friends of the opposite sex so they can direct them well on how to keep friends in the fear of God in absolute sincerity.

Government and the society on their part should know that no amount of education without morals and character is of any benefit to the society. The situation whereby civic and moral instructions are removed from the curriculum of the schools is detrimental not only to the child’s growth and development, but also to the family and society at large. Parents should allow the teachers to teach, impart and discipline the children they brought to school. The Bible says spoil the rod and spare the child. Proverbs 23:13 also says “Do not withhold correction from a child, for if you beat him with a rod, he will not die.” Proverbs 29:15 has this to say. “The rod and rebuke give wisdom, But a child left to himself brings shame to his mother.” This may sound awkward and archaic to most people but it is one of the ways to train a child in the way he should go and when he grows, he will not depart from it.
