There are under 100 billionaire moms in the world, and of this number, only a small number are self-made  billionaires, the rest simply inherited their wealth from either their dead hubbies or fathers. Infact, the Top 10 Richest moms in the world are mostly widows and daughters.

1. Christy Walton From the US

She is by far the richest Mom in the world today and is worth $22.5 billion. Mrs. Christy Walton is 55 years old and became the richest Mom in 2005 following the death of her hubby John Walton, who was the second son of the Wal-mart founder Sam Walton. John Walton who had mde his fortune with  Alternative Energy Firm  he initiated died in a plane crash.

2. Liliane Bettencourt From France

Lilian Bettencourt 87, is worth $20 Billion and unlike Christy, she is a billionaire’s daughter who inherited her wealth from her Dad, Bettencourt, the founder of cosmetic giant L’Oreal. She is by far, Europe’s richest Mom but on an unfortunate note, this 87 year old Billionaire  is not in good terms with her only daughter, Francoise Bettencourt-Meyer who is very saddened by her mother’s acceptance to share part of this huge family wealth with her 61 year old boy friend, Francoise-Marie Banier. The matter is before court to ascertain her state of mind. Her aggrieved daughter believes the 61 year old boyfriend is manipulating her old mom.

Birgit Rausing is 86 and is worth $13 Billion. This mother of 3 inherited a Packaging firm,  Tetra Laval following the death of her hubby Gad Rausing in 2000. She is now living her retirement in Switzerland, having left the management of this huge family fortunes to her children.

4. Savitri Jindal From India

Savitri Jindal  60, is currently worth $12.2 billion  and she is the Nonexecutive Chairperson of the O.P. Jindal Group, a steel and power conglomerate founded by her late husband, Om Prakash Jindal. The hubby died in a helicopter crash, leaving all the wealth to her and thier 4 sons who all run the family business but under her overseer role. She is also a prominent politician from the state of Haryana.

Abigail, 48 is currently worth $11.5 billion and runs a Fidelity Investment Firm with her father. It is one of America’s most powerful mutual fund company. She is happily married with 2 children. Currently she is directly in-charge of personal and workplace investing Division and there is every reason to believe this business will fall to her when her father passes on.
