Eat Healthy

Why bargain food isn’t always a bargain. And eating healthy should always be a main priority.
As a single mom on a budget I have tried to give my children the best meals I could .With the economy the way it is now ,shopping for the essentials is getting a bit harder to manage. Getting more food for my dollars has become a top priority in my household. I began to think about what I needed to do to help me with the problem . So I came up with a plan. On my next visit to my grocers I only bought food I could find on the outer aisles . What I mean by outer aisle is this, the outer aisle has foods like fruits, vegetables ,and meats ,with all the junk food like cookies and cakes ,and less wholesome food stocked on the shelves in the middle aisles. I bought only those foods like the vegetables, fruits, and picked meats like chicken and leaner cuts of meat ,andI also purchased fish . Finally I selected only wheat breads ,and pasta, olive oil for cooking, nuts as a topping for my salads and baked potatoes. I bought juice as and alternative to sodas with all that sugar and caffeine. As I started for the check out I felt I had done a good job of shopping smarter but I could not know just how smart until I got my food purchases home. Getting home I put up all my new food items and let nature take it’s course the children came in for their usual sugary snack raid ,but all they were met with was fruit and juice. I sat and watched as they grumbled ,and groaned that this stuff was lame! But amazingly after a couple of days the kids came around to this new way of snacking ,and actually asked that we continue to get these kinds of foods from now on . The kids had learned that with fruit and juice there were so many more choices ,and never and arguement from me about how much they were eating, or that it was bad for them. Success! Now I had my proof ,I had made a positive change for mine and my childrens health . As a bonus ,we all felt better ,and had more energy ,so we did more activities outdoors like walking in the park,or on the beach, and we swam ,or played ball. Now I can’t personally guarantee that anyones family will take these changes as well as my family has .But, I can promise that with just a few healthier choices at your grocers you will begin to see a change in your own well being for the better. Eat healthy and see the difference in your life!
