Did You Enjoy Your Pregnancy?
Looking back, my pregnancies were quite memorable.
Looking back, my pregnancies were quite memorable.
I didn’t need to do any housework. My colleagues gave me special attention and spared some of the manual work which were not part of my duties anyway. Best of all, the feeling of a baby inside the tummy is so special. You could feel the baby moving. And it is such a well-behaved baby when inside the tummy. It will never cry nor play naughty tricks nor quarrel with you.
If I roll over, the baby will follow my movement. So I had to pay special attention and sleep carefully. Now, when the baby sleeps beside me, I would often think about the times when the very same person was still inside my tummy. It was like magic.
When I had my first baby, both me and my hubby knew that our two people world is nearing the end. So we had all the activities and romantic moments done before the due date. And yet we felt that we were doing those activities with three people together. But moving around was so easy – compared with after the baby is born – that those were the most enjoyable moments in my life.
I didn’t have much morning sickness. The worst moments were the first few months when I felt like vomiting, but nothing came out. That was about it. I think that I was very lucky in this regard.
And think about the shopping for baby stuff. That was the happiest shopping time. We had the “license” to purchase every thing, from baby bed to clothes to diaper to milk bottles. We didn’t think much about whether we would really use them. Sometimes we bought simply on the advice of those “sales consultants” – and end up many of the stuff are still untouched a few years after the baby was born, and we now have to find someone to pass those brand new stuff on.
Perhaps the most annoying moments were the hour-long wait for pre-natal check up. The O&G doctors were always fully booked. Even with a pre-booking you needed to wait for at least one hour, only for a few minutes’ consultation and an ultra-sound scan. Now that the baby is so healthy and strong, I think those hours were wasted – of course I did not think the same at that time!
And the moment the baby was born, when I heard the first cry, I felt like crying as well. And the new born was so cute…. Sometimes I wanted to have another baby.
But when thinking about the first two years of taking care of a new born, my desire for another baby will disappear immediately!
