Common Pitfalls That Teenagers Should Watch Out for

Teenagers have a huge challenge upon them at a point in life when they have just about matured. Remember that life is as good as you make it.

Every teenager wants to be cool but are they choosing to do the right thing. Here is some clear-cut advise and a frank list of do’s and don’t that teens should go through.

Parents and Teachers

Don’t try to be a cool rebel because chances are that they turned out to be a big nothing after high school. Always listen to what grown-ups have to say to you. That doesn’t mean that you should stop thinking for yourself or cow down all the time. Reason out matters on which you don’t agree with them instead of blindly ignoring their advice. In most cases the problem lies in the communication gap. Either you don’t understand a grown up’s point of view or they are unable to explain it clearly.

Study and learn

So, you think homework is boring? What you don’t know is that you have it real easy right now. You probably want to be a singer, actor or painter when you grow up but that doesn’t mean basic education is redundant. It’s not always about earning money as education teaches basic living skills and you are lucky to have this chance.

Hobbies and Interests

Develop and practice whatever you enjoy doing the most. It can be reading, painting, photography, star-gazing, dancing, cooking…. the list is endless. Hobbies refresh your mind and you might even end up making a living from them when you grow up. Give some time to it every week but don’t make it an excuse for not performing in the classroom as you never know how things will turn out in the future. Make a risk free plan for your life.

Opposite sex

Dating, hot girls and cute guys are very interesting at this age. Bet this is all your friends talk about. Talk as much as you want when you hang out with friends but leave the thoughts behind when you hit work. Engaging your mind in interesting activities instead of thinking about opposite sex all the time will help you manage all hormonal challenges better.

Peer pressure

Your friends are busy partying, dating and boozing and some of them also manage to sneak in dope. Say No! Everyone wants to look cool right now but what they don’t know is that they are jeopardizing their future by doing this. People form life long habits at this age and all choices made will most definitely affect your future. You want to be proud of your choices seven to ten years from now.

  1. Teenage is the most trying milestone in any human being’s life.I have two teenage sons but everytime i am not seeing them, I feel they are out for some mischief with wrong peers!

  2. Very good suggestions, but the ones who need them most generally look on with disdain. Most teenagers know all there is to know…

  3. yeah, the trick is to get them to listen i guess.
