Cell Phone and Our Kids

What technology is doing to our future generation. what effects there are.
Where is the world going to? When I was a kid cell phones were for rich people and if a kid had one it was a big deal. As I watch my two kids grow up in this world I realize how different it really is.
Nowadays when your a kid and you dont have a cell phone your considered poor or lower class. I can understand parents getting phones for their kids because they have these tracking devices. Honestly though at age eight why does a kid need a cell phone?
Kids these days spend more time on the phone or computer than I ever did at that age. When I was eight I was outside playing with my friends talking to them that way. Kids these days are so lazy that they rely on texting as their primary means of communication. You take a kids cell phone away and it’s like chopping of their right arm.
I have to laugh when I hear parents questioning themselves as to why their kids are so lazy and in some cases why there so heavy in weight. They did it themselves, by providing their children with a means of communication that doesnt require speaking it out loud or even paper and a pen. Now as a parent I cant say that cell phones are all together bad because I’m sure that when my kids are at a suitable age I’ll provide them with one for safety reasons, but I also know that they will be very restricted as to what they can do with them, and when they can be used.

Excellent points in the article. The parent is still the parent, and the parent is responsible for the well being of the kids, whether it’s how much TV or computer time the kid gets, or whether the kid is allowed to have a cell phone. Thanks for writing this.
