Breastfeeding Benefits to Moms and Babies

This dicusses the advantages of breastfeeding to both the mother and baby.

When it comes to benefit, good benefit, we could say that breastfeeding can give greater benefit than of that formula feeding. Now a day, especially in our country, because of poverty many families especially those who cannot afford to buy milks for their babies would be of great help when they feed their babies through breastfeeding because it’s not only free but also beneficial both for the mother and the baby.

In the hospital setting health care provider would teach and encourage our mothers to feed their babies through their breast. It is our advocacy to let our mothers know the benefits of breastfeeding and the disadvantages of formula feeding. Not only to the milk benefit but also to the mother and child bonding. With the face to face and eye to eye contact of the mother and her baby, is one important factor in which it gives privacy to them, to have their bonding  moments that no other thing could ever take that away from them.

Breast milk is the perfect food for baby, with numerous advantages over bottle-feeding, especially in the first four months or so. Here’s why:

þ  It’s always available.

þ  It’s free.

þ  It contains active infection-fighting white blood cells and natural chemicals that give increased protection against infections in the first months, when these can be the most serious.

þ  It contains the perfect proportion of nutrients that your baby needs, including protein, carbohydrates, fat, and calcium.

þ  It can help prevent SIDS, sudden infant death syndrome.

þ  It is easily digestible.

þ  It may protect against allergies and asthma in the future.

þ  It may decrease a baby’s risk of obesity in the future.

þ  It may contain some fatty acids that promote brain development.

þ  Breastfeeding can help new mothers lose weight more easily.– the joyful bonding with your baby, the cost savings, and the health benefits for both mother and baby.

We should always believe the quote “MOTHER KNOWS BEST” especially that they want to give us the best thing that they could ever give to us. It also makes the feeling of the mother blessed for having such wonderful gift that they would receive from God that they would treasure for a lifetime.
