After School Clubs: Allowed to Open Until 8Pm?

Under new laws, this could be the case.

If you’re a parent with a child in school, then you should be familiar with all of the clubs that are available to you to help with child care if you should need it. Most schools allow children to be dropped off at least an hour before school begins, and then stay for another hour after school if they should need to. Under new laws, schools could be forced to provide extra care for children until 8pm at night, meaning that the child might not get home until it is time for them to go to bed. There are both positives and negatives to this case, and this is something that needs to be considered carefully.

The first thing that you have to take into consideration is the fact that parents have to work, and might not be able to afford to pay for somebody to look after the child at their own home. Although you might think that people should not have had children if they couldn’t look after them, they need to realise that things can change in life, and they might have been in a completely different situation when they chose to have the children than they are today. This service might provide individuals with a chance to earn money to give their child a good quality of life, rather than live on benefits like they may have to if they were to choose to take their child home straight after school.

For the majority of people who work full time, being able to pick their child up from school is something that they can only dream about. If you’re in a full time job, the chances are that you would be working until at least the early evening, because most people cannot leave early enough in order to pick their children up. If you knew that your child was going to be taken care of at school, where they could be with teachers who they trusted and children who they enjoyed playing with, then this would surely be a weight off the mind of the parents rather than having to think about leaving their child at home for a number of hours before they got home from work.

However, it is important that we take the time to think about the opinions and feelings of the child, too. If they have to go to both the before school club and the after school club, this might mean that they would have to leave for school as soon as they got up, and go to bed when they got home, meaning that they wouldn’t have any kind of quality time with their parents at all. If at all possible, a child should always be cared for by family rather than by the school, as it is their family who are the most important to them. Keeping a child in school for more than 12 hours out of every day can’t be right, and there needs to be a balance between parents who need to use the service and parents who just don’t want to have to look after their own children.
