Activity for Toddlers

For many parents who have raised a toddler, they claim that a child becomes a tiny terror when they reach the two-year-old mark. I have raised two children myself and now that my kids are now in their teens, I can say that based from experience, that terror stage lasts from a year, two or even three.

From my personal learning, these little ones should be kept constantly busy in order not to be trouble-makers. Therefore, it is essential to find interesting and educational activities that toddlers will enjoy doing.

Music has always been a part of the everyday routine in our home. Our radio is always blasting early in the morning and the children enjoy watching those educational programs with great learnings in song. Definitely, one great activity for toddlers comes if you teach them how to sing.

First of all, you have to choose your material carefully. You cannot teach a very complex piece to a toddler. It is best to choose a simple song with easy words and your child will immediately start picking it up. A fun way to start is by teaching the alphabet through song. This is a fun and enjoyable activity for toddlers, especially since they are also learning in the process.

Now that they can carry and mimic a simple tune, then you might want to teach them more songs now. You can also look up software programs that offer activity for toddlers using colorful graphics and sing-a-long songs which parents can use to teach their children. In this way, your child learns the basic computer skills while listening to some old standards.

If you are not too keen on having your toddler in front of the computer, then consider a DVD that contains songs fit for preschool. Many of these DVDs are available at toy stores, and some at discounted prices. Kids naturally love watching TV, so you can make it a productive activity for toddlers by letting them watch something educational.

Other children are born with a keen inborn sense of rhythm. These are the kids that you can spot moving in tune to music that they hear. If your child is rhythmically gifted, then you can give him a gift of a musical instrument. Keep the instrument a simple one, like maybe bongo drums, a percussion triangle or harmonica. Mom and dad should be prepared for a whole lot of noise, but this is a great activity for toddlers, especially if your child has a talent in music.

Certainly, music is a favorite pasttime for many, young and all. That is why music is the perfect activity for toddlers becayse young ones are not ashamed to dance to the beat of their own drums or song at whim at the top of their lungs. It is always wise to introduce your children to music at an early point, so that it becomes natural to them. Not only toddlers, but children of any age will surely welcome an activity that is related to music.
