A Letter to Me
Inspired by a Brad Paisley song this is a letter to me if I could go back into time.
Dear Me,
There is a lot in life you will go through. There is a lot of pain you will see. Do not let it get you discourage. Do not let it all get you down. You will see the rainbow just beyond the black clouds.
Just remember not to be swept away by your first boyfriend. Do not build all your hopes and dreams on this one. He is going to let you down. In a few years, he will be nothing more than a distant memory. Besides your Prince Charming will not pop up in your life until you reach your late thirties. So hang until til he comes.
Buckle down in school. That is what is important. Start planning for your tomorrows to come. Do not worry about fitting in right now. That will come in time. Just worry about learning all you can so your future will be bright.
Just wait til the first time that you hold each one of your babies. The look of wonder in their eyes will astound you. You will experience the joys and fears of motherhood but remember you will be okay. You have family who will help you along the way.
When you get a chance go visit all your grandparents. Absorb from all of them what you can. Their time is short here on this earth and you need to make memories with them while you can.
Do not start smoking. It is a hard habit to break. Find other things to do to rebel against your parents. Dye your hair pink or paint your nails blue. Just do not light that first one and you will be okay.
I know this all seems a bit much but remember that in the end you will make it through. Each tear that you shed is nothing more than a stepping-stone to something better along the way. Each victory life’s way of giving you a high five for the things you do right. Remember I will always be on your side cheering you along the way.
So take each word to heart and learn from all your mistakes you make. Life is a wonderful mystery that you need to savor as each unfolds. Just hold on and enjoy the ride. You will be just fine.
Always,
Me
