10 Family Fun Projects for Summer

No more teachers No more books…..yes parents the time is soon coming…SUMMER HOLIDAYS!!! Don’t fret I’ve listed 10 great family projects for you and your family to discover and more importantly have fun together this summer.

You can create a summer to remember without having to spend thousands of dollars. All it takes is a little creativity, imagination and the list below of course!!! So start some new fun family traditions and make long lasting memories this summer……

1. Go on a Nature Walk: Take the family out for a nature walk and explore your surroundings. Take a notebook to draw pictures of different flowers, plants and any critters you may see on your way.  Take your camera and take pictures of anything you may want to research later and learn something new with your kids.

2. Plant a family Garden: Take inventory of everyone’s favourite vegetable or flower and create a family garden. Get the kids to paint rocks that you can use in the garden as decorations or create your own garden stepping stone with the family name on it. Have a race and see who’s flower grows the fastest. This is a great family project for summer and just thinks how easy it will be to get the kids to eat their vegetables at dinner time.

3.  Backyard Camping: Get outside in your backyard and put up the tent for a camping trip your family will never forget. Barbecue hamburgers or hot dogs for dinner and when it gets dark roast marshmallows and make smores.

What if it rains? Well turn the backyard camp out to an indoor one. You don’t have to have a real tent make one out of sheets using furniture to drape over it. Then simply put your sleeping bags underneath your new tent and it’s almost the same as being outside….smores included.

4. Summer Scrapbook: What better way to remember all the fun you and your family have this summer then creating a scrapbook. Take pictures and collect different keepsakes to create great scrapbook pages that you can look at time and time again. You don’t have to break the bank to create a beautiful book you can make it cost effective by shopping at places like The Dollar Store. Then once a week create pages of your favourite activities and moments. Get the kids to print their own comments in the album which will be fun for them to look at years later.
