Survival Tip: Food Storage

This are guidelines for amounts of basic food storage for an adult for ONE year and food shelf life:
Grains-400 lbs. Wheat, rice, corn rolled oats, spaghetti, etc
Wheat will last 20-plus years! If you or your family are not use to eating wheat, such as wheat bread, it’s a good idea to gradually add it to your diet.
Legumes-60 pounds. Dry beans, peas, lentils
Beans will last 6-8 years. This is one that I will have to introduce my family. We don’t eat a lot of chili because of me. I dislike chili. My husband and his family eat it frequently. So I have been having my children try it more.
Powdered milk-16 lbs.
Nonfat dry milk will last on the shelf 2-3 years. Powdered milk has more calcium than pasteurized milk. It can be sneaked into diets through baking. Easy to take hiking! Put cereal and powdered milk in a baggie. When ready to eat, just add water and shake!
Sugar or honey-60 lbs.
Sugar has a shelf life of 20-plus years!
Cooking oil-10 quarts.
Cooking oil needs to be rotated every year or it will go rancid.
Salt-8 lbs.
Salt stores indefinitely if kept dry.
Water-2 weeks supply-14 gallons
Rotate drinking water every 6 months.
Also include garden seeds in your storage! The easiest vegetables to grow are: corn, zucchini, string beans, carrots, peppers, tomatoes and cucumbers.

Good advice. My church has a food storage program. We are to put up x amount of x each month.
