Part 2, Stand off.
By now Will’s door was receiving little attention allowing for him to concentrate his fire on the window. Which was receiving a heavy number, making for almost unbroken shooting at the window. Blood had now soaked the corner with the window and Fred had had to kick over a sand bucket for friction under his feet.
“Reloading!” Fred screamed. “Fuck it’s jammed!”
Will sprinted towards the window. But as he went to fire, his gun had jammed also. He felt what seemed like his heart shrivelling up. A creature was climbing the mound of bodies and had just reached the window with two more on it’s tail. Will flipped his gun around and beat the first creature back. Jack had realised Will’s problem.
“Will!” Jack cried out, tossing Will his revolver.
Catching it by the nozzle, he delivered another blow, this time to the back of the head of the beast with the butt of the pistol. As Jack put a burst of fire into the next one. But then the third creature had made it into the room and dived straight for Will, sending him reeling backwards. Letting out a shot of the revolver blindly into the room. The light exploded. Darkness consumed the room. Will felt a bite in to his shoulder, causing him to let out a scream. The next moment with a flash of light, followed by a explosion of sound. His ear was ringing with a sharp pain. He could hear nothing but I high pitch whine. A wet lump had fallen onto him. The creature was now lifeless. Will could only deduce that Fred and a shotgun was involved.
Although Will could not hear any firing due to his disabled sense of sound, he could not see his comrades firing either. And no more creatures were pouring through the window or braying at the door. He could hear muffled talk. But see nothing but Fred’s outline move back towards the window.
Will climbed to his feet, clenching the wound which felt like it was freely flowing blood from his shoulder. He struggled to his friend. And leaned on him for support. They must have been fighting for just over a hour or so, he was exhausted. Turning around he saw Jack speak to the himself and Fred. But still could not quite make out what they were saying. Fred nodded, and helped carry Will to the opposite corner.
