The first thing to do if you think there is a gas leak in your home or office, is to get out, taking everyone with you; don’t call the utility company until you are out of the building. Using a telephone, switching off lights, lighting a cigarette can cause a situation that could have been easily avoid. That is, get out and then call.
Don’t try to fix the problem yourself, especially if you think you hear a hissing sound and you can locate the problem; just by turning on your flashlight could cause the gas to ignite. So if you smell a strong rotten egg odor, get everyone and yourself out of the building, and then call for help.
