Make your home safe for small children.
- Keep child out of reach of all low cabinets or apply childproof locks.
- Move all chemicals and harmful substances to an elevated area.
- Put childproof locks an all low cabinets, drawers etc.
- Never takes your eyes off the child when left in unsafe circumstances; on the stairs, in the bathtub, in the garage.
- When cooking, never have the pot handle sticking out where the child can grab it.
- Install smoke alarms on all level of your house, including: bedrooms, kitchen, living room.
- Install covers over all electrical outlets and have wires hidden.
- Have a list of emergency phone numbers close to the phone in case of emergencies such as fires, allergies and poison.
- Remove poisonous plants from home and garden.
- Fill in holes, fix fences, and fix loose floorboards.
- Make sure there are no jagged edges or corners.
- Keep children away when using tools such as lawn mowers.
- Always have a first aid kit.
- Make sure safety belts are properly fastened..
- Use safety gates to keep children out of unsafe locations such as the stairs, balcony, kitchen and bathroom.
- Make sure to cover up or tightly screw floor vents, children could be burned or electrocuted.
- Use door knobs covers or licks to prevent children wandering into unsafe locations.
- Use strong safety netting on windows or balconies.
- Use corner and edge bumpers on furniture, cabinets, wall corners.
- Get a cordless phone to be able to continuously watch your child.
