It is essential that you have at your disposal at least some carpentry tools but you should only require the very basic tools to get you started such as a screw driver, tape measure, hammer, saw, spirit level, tri square and perhaps a plane. It is also recommended that you purchase some type of clamp to hold the timber securely whilst you are fastening them together. The type of clamps you need will depend on what it is you are constructing. It will almost certainly become necessary to get hold of other tools as your interest in carpentry develops and you become more accomplished. Remember that the tools you purchase will be used on forthcoming projects and ought to give you many years of faithful service if you take care of them.
Prior to beginning your first proper project it is imperative that you become familiar with the tools you will be using. Possibly the most difficult hand tool to use is the hand saw.
