Prior to beginning your first proper project it is imperative that you become familiar with the tools you will be using.  Possibly the most difficult hand tool to use is the hand saw. A significant number people find it difficult to get a good straight vertical cut initially. It is however merely a matter of practice and you will find that you get better as time goes on.
