Changing a baby’s nappy needn’t be a long winded or clumsy affair. Simply follow these steps to a mess free and quick nappy change.
- Have all the things you need to hand at the changing station: – clean disposable nappy, barrier cream, nappy bag, wet wipes
- Lay baby down and remove lower half clothing. If wearing a sleep suit, simply undo the lower poppers, remove legs and move sleep suit up and away from baby’s bottom. Undo the vest and also move upwards away from bottom.
- Undo and remove nappy, scooping up any excess poo from baby’s bottom and place into nappy bag
- Using a wet wipe, clean bottom area, remembering to wipe front to back for girls
- Place barrier cream onto bottom and undo new nappy ready
- Lift baby’s legs up with one hand and place nappy down underneath baby’s bottom with the other hand making sure that the nappy is round the correct way
- Simply fasten nappy and re-dress baby. Wash hands.
