Tots are Quick to Learn Thier Way Around The Kitchen
Children starting at about three years of age can be taught many cooking techniques.
Time to take out that apron for little Ben or Tara. Children can be taught cooking techniques at about age two. The apron is a badge of importance and cleanliness. A work area that would be at your child’s height would be great. A step stool may be in need. Eggs are a great introduction to small children. Most recipes call for eggs, introduce your child to a cracking demo and before you know it they have it down pat and with no shells in the bowl. A whisk is great for little hands , after a whisking demo your little chef will be well on their way .
The whole concept of mixing and importance and an end result of a tasty concoction is high on the list for a preschooler. Spooning the mix in the pan and using a rubber spatula to get all the ingredients out of the bowl is also high on the list.
Teaching your child safety in the kitchen is very important such as stove and knives are never to be touched. A great way for your child to add ingredients to mix is for you to measure everything out and have him or her add by pouring in the pre- measured ingredient.
Last but not least time for cleaning up. Taking a small container and filling it about half way with soapy water and a sponge will allow clean-up duty. A demonstration is always a good idea. Finally the reward when it’s time to enjoy the results that your little chef prepared!
